Editorial Policy

The model, sourcing, correction, and commercial-independence rules behind the Lab.

Models and calculated examples

Each public model defines measurable inputs, units, an equation, intermediate outputs, rounding rules, and a list of limits. Published model versions identify the exact logic used for the named calculated examples, which are generated by the same functions used by the interactive pages and downloadable scenario file. They are analysis, not benchmark or laboratory results.

Research and sourcing

We prioritize primary sources from standards bodies, regulators, manufacturer documentation, service manuals, support policies, and safety notices. Sources establish documented constraints such as a link payload, cable class, travel threshold, or upgrade boundary. A reader must still verify the exact product, region, carrier, and current rule.

Automation and AI-assisted drafting

Research organization and drafting can use software and AI-assisted workflows. They may structure questions, compare documents, check arithmetic, and improve clarity. They cannot create firsthand experience. We do not claim hands-on testing, laboratory measurement, long-term ownership, or personal product use unless it actually occurred and the page publishes the method and evidence.

Updates and corrections

Published models and manuals are reviewed when standards, assumptions, support policies, compatibility rules, or documented corrections materially change the decision. Correction requests should include the page URL, the input, equation, or statement in question, and a primary source or manufacturer document that supports the update. Material model changes receive a new version and regenerated calculated examples; significant errors are corrected rather than silently preserved.

Commercial independence

Advertising and affiliate relationships are kept separate from editorial judgment. Payment does not guarantee coverage, ranking, or a favorable conclusion. Sponsored material, if introduced, will be labeled as such.
